Bridal | A Rainy "Day Before" at the Nelson-Atkins
I absolutely LOVED working with Nitza and Ryan on their "day before" bridal portraits! We had so much fun in spite of the cold and rain! I had met with Nitza a few weeks prior and we really hit it off at our coffee consultation. We chatted about Europe a lot, and I wanted to know all about Ireland, Nitza's homeland. She had a very refined non-traditional taste, which matched my photographic style and artistic outlook perfectly. When I met Ryan the day of their session, he was just as interesting and warm as Nitza. The entire session went without a hitch.
I had been very stressed out leading up to their shoot due to the weather. I was prepared to shoot in the rain, but was a bit nervous about handling the situation without an assistant at my side. Regardless, I arrived with my camera wrapped in a ziplock bag and ready for pretty much anything. Nitza and Ryan, however, didn't seem remotely phased by the rain and cold. Nitza seemed quite pleased with the gloomy weather, which made for a beautifully romantic backdrop for their portraits. Luckily the rain ended about 15 minutes into the shoot, and the most we had to worry about was scattered mud puddles and dripping leaves.
The next day- a bright and sunny one, I might add- these two were married at the downtown courthouse. Next they'll be off to Ireland for their formal wedding ceremony. They are such a lovely couple, and I wish them all the best in their travels and marriage.
