Couples | A Timeless Engagement in New York City
Two months ago I was walking around Manhattan with these two timelessly cool New Yorkers. We were carefree and having way too much fun shooting their engagement images. Brooke wore classic all black followed by a modern all white suit; Grant’s attire was a timeless masculine look with a black suit and grey sport jacket. They showed my husband and I how to properly use the subway. We explored a wintry Central Park and gained access to a park that requires I key to enter (and exit.) I absolutely cannot wait for their wedding planned by my girl at Belle Journee, and featuring fabulous vendors like Ellipsis Design and The Cottage Rose.
Outside of work, my husband and I walked so far our feet ached. We ate amazing meals and saw gallery after gallery of art and artifacts. It was a amazing trip, and I feel so fortunate to have been able to experience it. Only a few weeks later quarantine hit due to the Covid-19 outbreak, and I find myself locked in my house photographing fruit and making home renovations to pass the time. An elaborate belated honeymoon and retreat in Italy my husband and I had planned for months was cancelled, and two more of my destination weddings are on the fence about travel safety. This short weekend trip is so nice to look back on and remember a time when things felt normal, and a gentle reminder that eventually we will find these carefree moments once more.
