Wedding | Oceans Apart - A Covid19 Elopement
Neither distance nor plague could keep Sonya & Joel from a beautiful wedding. From a rooftop party in NYC to a chance trip crossing the Atlantic, their love developed under strenuous circumstances to start. So it would seem only fitting that their intimate, rose garden ceremony in rural Johnson County would occur during a global pandemic. Social distancing and an appropriately small guest count didn’t stop this day from being an incredibly stylish affair. From the draped floral harbor to the embroidered table cloth beneath their perfectly poured champagne flutes, these two truly embraced what it means to make the best of a tricky situation.
No one dreams of their wedding day being affected by threat of illness, and social distancing the day of the event is only the half of it for most couples. For Sonya & Joel an entire family was unable to be present. With all flights to the US indefinitely cancelled, Sonya’s family had to remain at their home in Sydney, Australia. However, they were very much celebrated throughout the day with video calls before and after the ceremony, and a champagne brunch of their own at 9am Sydney time.
With hopes for a destination reception in Hawaii sometime in the future (#takemewithyou), Sonya & Joel figured out the best means to make their wedding day one time remember.
