Wedding | An Outdoor Wedding Adorned in Fall Foliage

There was a book I used to love reading as a child called The Bunnies’ Ball. It was about two children who went into the woods at night and witnessed a beautiful woodland dance held by the forest rabbits. Decorated archways, flower adornments, and clever use of firefly light provided the backdrop to this sweet fairy-tale. I couldn’t help but compare the setting of this story and the stunning design of Jodie and Anita’s intimate wedding. There was something so very enchanted about the presentation, but so very warm and inviting all the same. Held in a private clearing on Jodie’s parent’s land in Wichita, the ceremony space contained a beautiful archway entrance and alter; both adorned with fall foliage, flowers, and rustic lanterns. Having a wedding outdoors in late November always comes with a slight risk for poor weather, so tubs of blankets were made available to guests as they entered the ceremony space. The Reception was held in a nearby mental building which had been transformed by use of silk backdrops, fairly lights, votive candles, many many flowers, and a beautiful dessert buffet. It was all so very stunning (and quite delicious.)

I didn’t get the chance to meet with Jodie and Anita prior to their wedding day,as I worked closely with their planner instead; however, I was instantly at ease when we did finally meet. They were animal lovers for one, and didn’t seem to take themselves too seriously considering it was their wedding day. Having been together for twelve years, they referred to their wedding as a formality more than once. And what a formality it was! With sweet heartfelt personal vows, Jodie’s 90 year old grandfather officiating, and their young daughter to recess with them down the aisle they formally became partners for life.
