Wedding | A Nostalgic Backyard Gathering Inspired by Home & Sentimentality
For those of you who went to art school with me, I’m sure you’re chuckling to yourself. Because you know and I know that the entire duration of my body of work leading up to this very moment is essentially about three things: nostalgia, home & sentimentality. I’ll be real with you, this wedding was probably the most “me” wedding I’ve ever encountered. It was spooky, actually. From Melanie’s high necked flowered gown to their cocktail style backyard ceremony; from the Persian rugs to the very charmingly rumpled photobooth backdrop - I could see how every detail was taken into account and was really thought through to make their wedding day their own. To say I was envious is a total understatement. Melanie & Geoffrey are about a hundred times cooler than I ever will be, and even if I could’ve dreamt up something this stunning there’s no way I would’ve executed it with the same beauty, authenticity, and utter fabulous-ness!
I knew I was going to like these two from the first time I grabbed coffee with Melanie. I had been having a terrible day that day, which I really only remember because I felt so much better after our meeting. She didn’t know anything was wrong, but she was so warm and interesting to talk to. I was just as pleased when I met Geoffrey for the first time a few months later. He was personable and funny and had a really great beard. What’s not to love? They were also amazing to photograph, and I looked forward to their wedding day for weeks leading up to it because I just knew it was going to be epic. I was so right.
