Wedding | An Intimate, Spring Mansion Reception & Second Ceremony
Super jealous over this one because I’m entirely convinced that this is exactly how my wedding should’ve gone- a private elopement for close family and a fun filled reception with friends- and in a venue I considered nonetheless! This shoot took place only two days before my own wedding anniversary so it was on my mind to say the least.
Cassie and Till were married in their current city of San Diego prior to me capturing their Kansas City reception, and short staged ceremony at The Simpson House. I absolutely loved all the details and laid back vibe of the festivities. They had friends perform songs, play instruments, and give speeches throughout the evening, which quickly became one of the most entertaining receptions I’ve experienced.
The thing I enjoyed the most about this wedding was that I was given the freedom to just create and capture at will. Cassie was upfront about wanting candid shots over posed images, and enjoyed my photo journalistic approach to events. With this post I choose to include more candid images, rather than those of the ceremony. This wedding was very much about the gathering and experience, over that of traditional wedding day happenings; it was about family, entertainment, and love. Of course, I had to steal Cassie and Till away to get a few shots of them alone in front of the gorgeous venue regardless.
