Wedding | An Emerald Green, Rose Gold Wedding and Woodsy Day After Session
I was salty as hell the week leading up to this wedding because my husband got to go to Orlando for work, and I could’ve gone with him but I had to stay home. I had multiple weddings and shoots throughout the week, concluding with this one. In retrospect, I have to laugh at myself a little because if I’d gone I would’ve missed out on one of my absolute favorite weddings to date - this one!
First off, I love Lauren and Justin! I vibed so well with them last year during our first meeting and their engagement session; they are such a warm, laid back, and fun loving pair, you really can’t not like them. Aside from these two, their family and small bridal party were equally as warm and easygoing. Together they created a day that was absolutely perfect for them; a private vow exchange, a receiving line, heart felt toasts, and surprise guests! A team of kick vendors was also assembled to make their day absolutely beautiful and run perfectly; some of my favorite details included the string quartet, the balloon sculpture, and their gorgeous cake. I’m a little biased because dark green is my favorite color (gee, who would’ve thought?) and their colors, modeled after their rings, were emerald green and rose gold. I’ve never been so in love with so many aspects of one day.
Two days later we met again to shoot a Day After session in stunning Burr Oak Woods. Burr Oak is by far my favorite photography location in the area, and I was elated at the opportunity to finally get to shoot a bride and groom beneath that looming canopy of trees. Day After sessions are something I truly hope become more common for those who don’t want a first look. They allow much more time for portraits at a more relaxed pace, away from the wedding day rush and 100+ guests waiting on dinner. My husband and I too, opted for a Day After session when he was adamant we not see each other before the wedding, and to this day they are my favorite pictures of us. While I don’t know how Lauren and Justin feel personally about it, I would say what we captured on that second day was by far worth the extra time and effort to create even more absolutely epic images.
I have to point out that this post doesn’t really show everything I would’ve liked to (those damn, file restrictions!) So jump over to my featured weddings on my weddings page to view a more expanded collection of images from this day!
