Destination | An Intimate Elopement at Dillon Lake

Two months ago Michael, Riley, my two Great Danes, and I traveled to Dillon, CO to shoot the sweetest lakeside elopement for Rachel & Dylan.

Our day begin in Vail, Colorado for a tearful first look, and then took us miles east to beautiful Lake Dillon. My crew and I arrived a day early and were staying in Dillon. We had already thoroughly explored the lake and surrounding area so I knew exactly where I thought we should shoot. Among intermittent sun and shadow and even a quick afternoon thunderstorm, Dylan & Rachel tied the knot. Afterward they shared a champagne toast on the beach and we had an extended portrait session until finally heading to a rooftop bar in Frisco to end the journey.

If you’re searching for an elopement spot that’s accessible and without crowds I’d highly recommend Dillon Lake. No hiking and no fighting for the perfect spot; just you and yours in the sand, sun, and occasional rain shower amongst a beautiful mountainous landscape.
