Destination | An NYC DUMBO & Lower Manhattan Engagement

Last December I had the honor of photographing Maren & Matt’s engagement photos in NYC. Since I’m headed back to ‘the Big Apple’ at the end of April there seemed like no better time to show off this couple and the city where they fell in love.

We began our shoot mid-afternoon, on what fortunately turned out to be a rather warm December day. First we hit up DUMBO for an iconic view of the Manhattan bridge, followed by a short walk to Pebble Beach. Having never visited Brooklyn before I was blown away by the insane view of the city skyline. We then walked Brooklyn Bridge and along South Street, taking in the beautiful views of both bridges from afar. We stopped by the seaport to take some images in front of a stunning cherry red ship docked along the pier. Our final destination was Stone Street, an old world cobblestone avenue in the middle of New York’s financial district. The location felt so unexpected. One moment we were amongst metallic skyscrapers and modern sculpture parks, and the next it felt as if we had stepped back in time. My husband and I were so impressed with Stone Street that we made plans to stay in the area for our five year wedding anniversary next month.

There is something so romantic about New York City, and how the old world mixes with the new; how it is exactly what you’d expect, yet there is always something left to be discovered.
