Couples | A Chilly Engagement at Great Sand Dunes NP

On a very chilly day in February I headed out to Great Sand Dunes National Park to capture Darcy & Justin’s engagement photos. A naturally very adventurous couple, they jumped at the chance to shoot here when they realized I had an elopement in this location on the same weekend. It was my fourth time venturing out into the park over the course of a three day stay in the area. I was not prepared for the insane workout I got when I headed to Colorado that weekend, and by this session I was completely wiped out. I was mildly nervous about a shoot in entirely direct sunlight, as well. We made the most of the blinding light, cold temperatures, and my aching back. I didn’t review the photos until a couple days later and was blown away by the results. The wind and direct sunlight created the most poetic and effortless gallery that conveyed their love story perfectly.
